I had an amazing curry, it was a massive portion and came with perfect chapatis. Will definitely be going again.

I've twice ordered from Lahore, and twice thoroughly enjoyed their offerings. It's a little bit different to your average take away, as the menu avoids stacking up the greasy options of donner meat and shit burgers, and veers more towards special grills and other treats. The first meal I had was their lamb chops from the grill, mash, and veg. I have to say, I was really impressed. The lamb chops were cooked beautifully, and had a lovely charcoal grill taste. The mash, which could easily have been smash I suppose, tasted lovely and buttery and the veg were freshly steamed and piping hot. Considering the cost, it was a really decent meal to order for tea - most of the time, getting a take away means eating more than you need, and isn't a healthy option. The second meal I had was their tikka masala. I opted for the chef special version, which was a quid more, just to see how special it was. It was pretty special. Made spicier than usual, it had a nice kick, and was well balanced. The only thing I wished was that it had more sauce for my rice. Chips were good, and plentiful. I'd been piggy, and ordered charcoal paneer too, which was an excellent choice. You get six huge pieces of paneer, herbed and charcoaled, and they were delicious. It all came with three little dips, garlic mayo, raita, and another red minty one, all of which were lush. They even gave me a wee salad box - nice touch! And nice try to keep me healthy, Lahore. Sadly I scoffed the other bits before I could think about being good to myself... Finally, although it's not rocket science, their milkshakes are to die for. I went for the Rolo shake, which was everything I desired it to be - sweet, chocolatey, caramel overtones, and blended really well. It cooled down the curry a treat, and I highly recommend you give 'em a go. I'll let you know - the milkshake actually swung the decision to get Lahore. I love a decent beverage selection! So, if you're in the area, or just want to avoid going shopping - this is a decent spot to grab a bite.

A real treasure trove of multi cultural cuisine. My son took me here as we were both on our way into Leeds and had a few hours to go before supper. I really only wanted a snack. I was blown away by the choice they had on the menu. I expected just indian cuisine, that incidentally is one of my favourites. But there also lasagne, burgers, grilled chicken. The one thing that surprised me was the selection of desserts. I was given a complimentary hot (as in temperature) treacle cornflake cake with home made custard. It was better than my Mum used to make. Good value for money. I do think they would also benefit if they could offer ready to go southern fried chicken as most of the food required a wait. But apart from that, they are a really funky and well planned team! Good Food and Good Effort.

Back in Hyde Park for a night of tumble drying duvets and lo-fi rock n roll, we were taken by Lahore's shiny-new interior and went to investigate. There are loads of Leeds takeaways that also offer the odd random-seeming choice like quiche or lasagne, but judging from the fancy menus, huge display cabinet and super enthusiastic staff, Lahore is making a po-faced attempt at being the genuine catch-all, multi-cuisine deli at affordable prices that you never thought you'd ever need. Apart from the aforementioned display cabinet forcing you to wait to order in the same 2-square foot area as people accessing the kitchen, toilets and raised seating area, they've done well with the space they have - the seating itself is comfy if small, and the bar stools at least allow you to get out of the congestion while you wait for your food. Plus it's very clean. Grilled lamb chops with salad and a side of fries came in at a little over a fiver, a difficult price point to satisfy at. It's too much to be happy with complete trash, but not enough to really offer anything much better. At Lahore they get around this by using what would generously be described as frying chops, but cake them in enough tasty crusting/rub so you don't really care. I personally would much rather have it this way around than the places that serve something that's big and plump but tastes of nothing. Plenty of chips too, and fresh salad. The missus had a chicken grill with a cheesy garlic naan for a similar price. The chicken was juicy and well flavoured while the naan was larger than average and actually surprisingly tasty. Elsewhere on the menu there were milkshakes, smoothies, puddings and custom celebration cakes, along with cold curries and burgers to cook at home if you find the funky pink and green colour-scheme a bit too much. Such a friendly place that is trying hard to do something old in a new way should always be applauded, and the little extras like "kerb-side to go", where drivers can pull up outside and they'll bring the order out for you, shows an appreciation for the customer experience that is missing from... pretty much 95% of the takeaway visits I've made in this country. Is the food good enough to be considered cheap, or cheap enough to excuse what it lacks? I guess it's down to personal opinion, and although I can think of a couple of places that will do you better for a fiver, there aren't many.
